The week of tropical weather...aka spring finally arrived! 🌞

- We're starting a really cool art project with Ms. Hildebrandt's class! - Lizzie

Gym
We started badminton and it was awesome! Mr. Newton created several different stations to practice hand-eye coordination and using the racket to connect with the birdie! The kids worked hard and had fun!
Math
We continued with Area and Perimeter and will be completing our SWYK next week. This week we reviewed what dimensions are (length and width), what the formulas are, as well as how to measure spaces to find the perimeter and area. We also did an estimation task using our school field: see below for some of our estimates.
Writing
We discussed story telling and how stories can be told using other forms than pen and paper or writing. We watched a cool video of Reuben Bullock from Reuben and the Dark and the Bullhorn singers sharing how they collaborated to create a beautiful song.

Art
As you may or may not know, we started doing some print making using the lino and carving tools! Students spent their Thursday art time practicing learning the basics and safety of using the tools, carving into the material, and experimenting with different lines. Special thanks to Ms. Hildebrandt for sharing her print-making expertise with us! Students finished their carvings and then were able to use the ink to create their print! This was very exciting and they all did so, so well. We cannot wait to see what they design for their final print copy, which will be used to create their own bookmarks.
On Friday, we enjoyed the warm weather and headed outside for a sit spot to recognize the changes we are seeing, hearing and feeling around us as we finally have some spring weather!
