Welcome back!! πππ
Mrs. Barnden and Ms. Sera were so happy to welcome everyone back to school this week. We missed you all so much!
The grade 5s did an excellent job of jumping straight back into our classroom routines this week; we were so impressed!
Literacy - We worked on a personal journal response this week and we continued with our literacy stations. Students worked hard before we left to learn a variety of stations, including reader's response, expert station, letter writing, word work station, and journal writing to name a few. Ask your student which station is their favourite and why.
Science - We picked up where we left off with our focus on the different climate zones. Students worked on conducting research on a specific climate zone and will present this information to their classmates through a chosen presentation type. Next week we will be acting as meteorologists to measure the weather around us through the use of different weather tools - thermometers and anemometers!
To brighten up our classroom and to acknowledge and belatedly celebrate Diwali - we created some paper fans and diyas! Students enjoyed this art task very much.
The grade 5s also jumped right back into Phys-Ed with a great tag game to get their heart rates up! They also showed some wonderful sportsmanship, grit and teamwork to collect as many beanbags as possible without getting tagged.
