Dec 12-16

 Last Blog post of 2025!

Important Dates for January:
  • Jan. 5 - First day back!
  • Jan. 22 - Mr. Pretzel Treat Day/Opa Fun Lunch (order at healthyhunger.ca)
  • Jan. 30 - No School - Non-Instruction Day

This week in writing, we were busy working on both story writing and procedural writing. In story writing, students focused on using strong story beginnings - ask your student what a strong story beginning entails! They were encouraged to use dialogue, descriptive language and ensure that they included details that were interesting for their reader! When we return in January, we will be finishing these up by editing and revising and sharing them with our peers!

Gym was a blast this week with students practicing their balance, coordination, team work and strategy skills to complete Toy grab! Check out some of the great action shots below:

Dancing Dan continuing to move even when it wasn't his turn!

Way to go Jordan who shared his amazing expert presentation on Dinosaurs this week!

Here are some of our Grade 5 Leadership students who a part of the teaching committee sharing a craft lesson they created and prepped for.

The last day before break was full of fun! The students did Freedom Frenzy in gym, which included GaGa Ball. We cleaned our classroom, delivered hand-made holiday cards that we had been working hard on for the last few weeks as a literacy station and enjoyed a movie! Due to the cold weather, DPA was a no-go outside and instead happened inside our classroom, where students decided to work collaboratively to build forts!

Out class is saying goodbye to 2025 and looking forward to what 2026 brings!  Mrs. Barnden and I are sure that our students will continue to work hard, grow in confidence as they develop their academic skills and continue to explore new topics, and further develop their friendships within the school. We wish you all a safe, happy, and healthy Winter Break and cannot wait to see you all again in the New Year!!

Love, Ms. Sera and Mrs. Barnden!
