Math
Monday and Tuesday's math this week continued on with adding and subtracting with decimals, however, we focused primarily on money! The students worked on Market Math, in which they had to use a grocery list to answer and solve word problems. Then they got to create their own market word problems and really used their knowledge to create multi-step problems. On Wednesday and Thursday, students continued working on our Data and Statistics unit. They were most excited to do a review Blooket on graphing and reading different types of graphs.
Gym was a blast this week with students finishing up their Mission Impossible unit! Check out these action shots:
In Writing this week, students finished up the stories that we started before the break! It is great to see how their writing is progressing, and we focused on using strong vocabulary and trying to "show not tell" within our writing. Next week we will begin a second story, this time using a picture prompt to get our ideas flowing!
In science we began our focus on Buoyancy and discussed what causes objects to sink and float. Ask your student if they can explain what impacts an objects ability to float. We also learned about the scientific method and will be using this process to conduct an experiment next week...stay tuned!
As always, we enjoyed time outside on Friday for our Daily Physical Activity. It is always wonderful to see the kids working and playing together. We hope you all have a fantastic weekend!!
