Science
This week in science we conducted an experiment related to our unit of Matter. We were testing how particles move and what affects the movement of these particles. Students used hot water, cold water, and food colouring to experiment with how temperature can cause particles to move at different speeds.
Math
We wrapped up our unit on multiplication and division this week - ending off with some problem solving and estimation! Next week, we will be completing our Show What You Know!
Social Studies
We are really digging in deep for our research project. Students have been applying all the note taking skills to record the important information on the 3 areas (innovations, government and social structure) of their ancient civilization. They have been doing lots of good collaboration with their group members, asking thoughful questions and extending their research to new topics!
Way to go Maz for an excellent expert presentation! We learned a lot about peacocks!
Thank you to Parent Council!
We received new headphones allowing students to listen to videos and articles for their social studies research! It has been great for helping students to stay focused as well as keeping the sound down in our room.
Literacy
We started a new station this week: Book Review! Students are tasked with reviewing their library or guided reading books. First they share the basic details such as character and setting, then they summarize the plot and then they get to rate it based on their opinions and preferences. We plan to share these review with younger students to help guide their book choices.
