From the future grade 6s:
We did tie dye! - Jordan
Today we made bannock with our buddies! It was delicious - Claire
We finished math - Vansh (Except no we didn't, sorry Vansh - love your teachers!)
We did tie dye and worked on our math board games! - Lizzie
We are painting on canvases - Evaya
Science
We are working on completing our presentations about the last two body systems - musculoskeletal and respiratory! Students are becoming an expert on one of these systems and will then share with a peer who did the opposite system, teaching their peers about all of the important information they gathered.
We have also started talking about Space and on Tuesday learned about the Phases of the Moon. Students learned many new vocabulary words, including waning gibbous, waxing gibbous, waning crescent and waxing crescent. Ask your student how long the moon cycle is and have them explain the 8 phases of the moon to you!
Math
This week we started a year-end math project that our students are very excited about - creating their own Math Board Games! They were tasked with coming up with a game theme, creating at least 20 math problem cards that will be used to play the game, recording clear directions/instructions for game play, and designing their own game boards! We are looking forward to seeing how these games come together, and are hopeful we can spend some time next week, playing each other's games!
Writing
We have been working on our biographies for our classmates. It has been awesome to read how students are describing their classmates. They have been doing a great job sharing how great their friends are! We also have been wrapping up other literacy tasks and some health writing. Students should be able to write several connected paragraphs at this time of year.
Art
We have been working on a northern lights keepsake for students to take home. They have embarked on challenging acrylic paint journey to follow step by step portrayal of the northern lights. Students demonstrated mental fortitude and resilience in creating these pieces and we can't wait to finish them up next week!
Tie dye!
Shirts are done! Thank you SO much to our amazing parent volunteers, Car and Nick, for their time and efforts to make sure all shirts were dyed and rinsed to perfection. They look amazing. We are really excited to celebrate with everyone on Wednesday 😍.
Hi Ahmed's mom! - Mrs. Barnden
